Statutes
EVA was founded under Belgian legislation in 1997 in the legal form of a G.E.I.E. and has its seat in Brussels. The objectives of EVA are enshrined in Article 1: to collaborate with the EU institutions in order to ensure the highest possible level of legal, economic and moral protection of visual artists.
The statutes note, that the level of protection of intellectual property rights varies strongly from one member states to the other, that it is necessary to improve the status of visual artists and that satisfactory remuneration to the author is a fundamental question of justice and will in turn foster and encourage Creativity in Europe.
