Statutes

EVA started its activities in the early 90ties and was formally founded under Belgian legislation in 1997 in the legal form of a G.E.I.E. (European Economic Interest Group) with its seat in Brussels. The objectives of EVA are enshrined in Article 1 of the STATUTES to collaborate with the EU institutions in order to ensure the highest possible level of legal, economic and moral protection of visual artists.

The statutes note, that the level of protection of intellectual property rights varies strongly from one member state to another, that it is necessary to improve the status of visual artists and that satisfactory remuneration for authors is a fundamental matter of justice and will in turn foster and encourage Creativity in Europe.
