About EVA

European Visual Artists (EVA) represents the interests of authors' collective management societies for the visual arts. 25 European collecting societies for visual creators are gathered under this roof as members or observers. They manage collectively authors' rights of over 50 000 creators of works of fine art, illustration, photography, design, architecture and other visual works.

Visual arts societies were well represented at the Commission Hearing on governance of collective rights management held in Brussels on 23 April 2010. Prof.Dr. Gerhard Pfennig spoke in his position as managing member of Board of Directors of VG Bild-Kunst, the German collective managment society for fine arts, photography and film. Christophe Depreter, managing Director of SABAM emphasised the importance given to the visual repertoire which is part of the activities of SABAM, more commenly known for representing composers.

GOOGLE SETTLEMENT

 

On 7 September the European Commission held a hearing on the pending Google book search settlement. The sector of authors of fine art was represented through OLA the international licensing body set up by EVA members.
