Visual arts societies were well represented at the Commission Hearing on governance of collective rights management held in Brussels on 23 April 2010. Prof.Dr. Gerhard Pfennig spoke in his position as managing member of Board of Directors of VG Bild-Kunst, the German collective managment society for fine arts, photography and film. Christophe Depreter, managing Director of SABAM emphasised the importance given to the visual repertoire which is part of the activities of SABAM, more commenly known for representing composers.

GOOGLE SETTLEMENT

On 7 September the European Commission held a hearing on the pending Google book search settlement. The sector of authors of fine art was represented through OLA the international licensing body set up by EVA members.

On 17 September at the 2009 CIAGP Congress in Madrid, gathering collective management societies for fine arts and photography from around the world, a resolution was adopted unanimously to strengthen the resale right and its effecient management.
