Collective Management

Collective management is essential to provide different and new tasks in the digital environment. Therefore EVA welcomed the adoption of the CRM directive 2014/26/EU in 2014. A clear legal framework that governs the activities of collective management organisations is necessary. Transparency and democratic governance structures are important assets of collective management and our members abide to high standards of transparency and efficient management to the benefit of visual authors.

All EVA collective management organisations are not-for-profit organisations – regularly set up in the form of associations governed by their members: the authors. The activities of collective management organisations have been increasingly regulated through competition rules. However, their purpose and function to provide authors with an indispensible service and to faciliate access to licenses on aggregated repertoires in a cultural environment are not comparable with other services and products offered on any other market.
