At its latest statutory General Assembly, EVA members approved the application of ZAiKS, the Polish Society of Authors, bringing the total number of its members to 32 and further expanding the association’s geographical diversity.
Founded in 1918 by Julian Tuwim, Jan Brzechwa, Antoni Słonimski, and Anda Kitschman, ZAiKS represents a large range of creative fields such as visual arts, music, literature, screenwriting, journalism, and science. It is also currently a member of both CISAC and GESAC.
More recently, ZAiKS has intensified its efforts to raise awareness of collective rights management among Polish artists and rightsholders, an endeavor that began only six months ago, and has already resulted in 50 collective management agreements for the resale right.
As the first organization in the Polish market to manage the local repertoire of visual artists, with a community of 99 fine artists and 68 photographers, and numbers expected to grow in the coming months, ZAiKS’ membership is expected to enrich EVA community and bring the Polish experience to the association.
EVA Secretary General Laetitia Nguala Masamba commented: “I am glad that a CMO active in an important art market as Poland has finally joined our membership. New members mean new perspectives and we look forward to hearing the Polish one. I warmly welcome ZAiKS to the dynamic EVA community and anticipate working towards our shared goals.”
Karol Kościńsk, CEO of ZAiKS, stated that: “ZAiKS is proud to join EVA and become part of a strong international community representing visual artists. We look forward to contributing to the collective efforts to strengthen authors’ rights and adapt to the evolving digital landscape.”
