EVA, along with 23 other creators and rightsholder organisations across the EU, is urging EU policymakers to effectively implement the Artificial Intelligence Act. The joint letter emphasises the need to protect creators’ rights and ensure ethical AI development, to ensure a fair and equitable framework, where AI innovation in the EU also safeguards and strengthens cultural and creative industries.

The coalition is asking for:

  • A Sustainable Licensing Market for the use of copyrighted materials in AI training.
  • Responsible AI Innovation that respect the intellectual property of creators.
  • Empowering Authors to Protect Their Rights and control over how their work is used.
  • Fair compensation to authors when their work is used by AI.
  • Accountability for AI companies for any violations of EU copyright laws.
