The World Intellectual Property Organisation to host key event to discuss the Resale Right in Geneva

The International Conference on the Resale Right will take place on April 28 in Geneva under the hosting of WIPO and organized by the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), The International Council of Creators of Craphic, Plastic and Photographic Arts (CIAGP) and European Visual Artists  (EVA).

One of the main purposes of the conference is to seek to promote a better understanding of the issues and impact that can stem from the application of the resale right at global level, taken from legal, cultural and economic perspecties.

The event will be structured in four sessions where artists, art dealers, collective management societies and experts will discuss the international development of the art market and ways artists can benefit from across-the-globe art trading as well as the importace of the resale right and efficient ways of implementing it.

EVA welcomes the fact that WIPO has provided a platform where artists have a unique opportunity to voice out their support for a global introduction of the resale right which has the potential to provide them with both income as well as more information about the dealing of their works.
